Light / Dark

Role: Creative Technologist / Art Director Type: Experimental R&D / In-Camera XR

Brief As part of an internal innovation initiative, the goal was to explore the boundary between digital and physical reality - specifically how Unreal Engine environments could be merged seamlessly with real-world lighting and camera movement.

Contribution and Approach This was a self-directed two-day experiment that focused on capturing all effects in-camera. Colaborating with the team, we designed and executed a series of tests using dynamic lighting, tracked movement, and real-time Unreal Engine rendering to investigate how digital elements could react credibly within real environments.

The exploration centred on grounding CG elements through accurate physical lighting, motion continuity, and camera behaviour. I was involved in the full creative and technical process - from concept, environment development, and scene setup to testing, capture, and post-evaluation.

Outcome • Produced a series of compelling internal R&D visuals demonstrating near-seamless digital–physical integration • Informed future client-facing workflows for both in-camera VFX and real-time experiential installations • Strengthened internal capability and understanding of hybrid XR/physical pipelines
